Position Overview

The Crane Operator at Circle 8 Crane Services is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile cranes on job sites. This role requires a high level of skill and attention to detail, ensuring that all lifts are performed in compliance with company standards and regulatory guidelines. The Crane Operator must work closely with ground personnel and other team members to ensure the successful completion of projects. This position is essential to our operations, providing critical support to various projects, including heavy lifting and equipment placement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crane Operation: Safely operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and position materials as required on job sites. Ensure all operations comply with Circle 8 Crane Services' safety standards and industry regulations. 

  • Equipment Inspection: Perform daily inspections and some preventive maintenance of cranes, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure and other essential components. Report any issues or necessary repairs to the maintenance team promptly. 

  • Load Assessment: Evaluate load weights and determine the correct lifting procedures, including the selection of appropriate rigging and hoisting equipment. 

  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with ground personnel, site supervisors, and other operators to coordinate movements and ensure safety. 

  • Documentation: Accurately log time, equipment usage, and project details using Fleet Cost & Care's NexGen software for crane dispatch and time tracking. 

  • Travel: Travel to various job sites as required, often in remote or varying locations. Must be willing to work on a 21/7 schedule, with extended periods away from home. 

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Attend safety meetings and participate in ongoing training sessions. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating mobile cranes in a construction or industrial setting. 

  • Licensing: CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred but not required. Clean Driving Record required. Must hold or be willing to obtain applicable crane operator certifications. 

  • Skills: Proficient in operating various types of cranes and lifting equipment. Strong understanding of load charts, rigging techniques, and safety procedures. 

  • Physical Requirements: Must be physically capable of performing heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions. 

  • Technology: Familiarity with Fleet Cost & Care's NexGen software is preferred, especially for dispatch and time tracking. 

  • Travel: Must be willing to travel to other branches and extensively to different job sites, often on short notice. 

  • All other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
